I have alertactions setup for pdiskfail,vdiskfail etc on 2950s (& 2850s)
Using RHEL4.5/RHEL5.1 and OMSA 5.3 (manual install and through yum).

Has been working on 50+ servers for several months, successfully
detected several disk failures.

omconfig system alertaction event=pdiskwarn execappath="<script 
 to send email>"
