PE2900 too noisy for office?

Is it acceptable for your office? I really can't say, it depends on how
noise sensitive you are. Talking on the phone really shouldn't be an
issue with a 9G...

The 9G servers are relatively quiet for a server, (I don't have an dB
numbers) with one caveat. They are only quiet when the fans are low. In
other words, don't let the system get too hot and keep the cover on.

Subject: PE2900 too noisy for office?

I'm looking for a new server for my home office; it should have a single

Core2 quad-core processor (or two dual-cores) of at least 2.5 GHz, 16 GB

memory and about half a dozen SATA drives of either 750GB or 1TB. My
existing servers are in the basement, and are too noisy to move. I
rather
like the PE2900.

I have many PE2900 (original and III) servers in a computer room
environment (not at home), but several hundred machines make it
impossible
to gauge how noisy they are individually. Are they (or a PE1900 in tower

form) quiet enought to use in an office environment? I saw the earlier
thread about 'quietest 1U rack server', but it didn't mention the PE2900

III, which are supposedly quieter (or at least, less noisy).

Thanks,
Steve
