gentoo linux with sas5iR controller

A SAS5iR has a option rom configuration utility. You can enter it during
POST when the OROM loads with ctrl-c.

The SAS5iR is indeed an LSI controller-chip based solution, but it is
mpt. The megacli utility mentioned earlier is intended for a different
breed of controller from LSI - the megaraid controllers.

While I in no way support this, or have even tried this, I found this in
the portage:

sys-block/mpt-status

It might be of help. It claims to query the running configuration of LSI
SCSI HBA.

If that SAS5iR (see lspci) is some sort of LSI controller then "emerge
megacli" might work. Also go to linux.dell.com and see if there are
any utilities for that controller.
