I might suggest outputting two version values: "suggested" vs
"minimally acceptable" -- where minimally acceptable is "upgrade to
this version to avoid known problems and avoid Degraded state", and
suggested is "for new features, run this version or newer."
In our case, we're going to have to firmware upgrade and reboot ~200+
servers so that our monitoring system stops whining about "degraded
storage". Alternatively, we could stick with OMSA 5.2, but that would
has its own set of problems.
If the minimal version was split into two, though, the monitoring
systems could key off of that, and whatever wants to key off of the
"new features" version could look at that.
(Michael, will try your next set of suggestions after business hours
today. Thanks!)
