JBOD mode on MegaRAID?

Yes.  For metadata.  By initializing disks with data already present, 
you've likely overwritten the end of the disk, and will now need to 
recover/repair it in some way.  Note that you did NOT mention that you 
wanted to use *already filled* disks in JBOD mode in your original mail. 
  As far as I know, that's not possible.
