Oh yes also:

I've been told by a Dell engineer that to maximize speed one should
connect the MD1000 with the 2 iSCSI cables directly at installation-time.
Because, when installed in the box, hard drives get assigned to a
particular interface/cable and it's not possible to change their
assignment afterward. So, adding the 2nd cable later wouldn't bring speed
improvement.

(And of course I've connected my box with only one cable and I'm already
using 10 out of the 15 available HD ;-p )

RE MD1000 recommendations?

We have a MD1000 here and; Yes, indeed it's not blazingly fast (which you
might want to take into account though (eg:for backup)). It's working well
on RHEL-4.3.

The only problem I have is that 'til now I couldn't yet setup SNMP
monitoring to monitor the status of the PCI-e RAID card it is attached to.
Because it seems that there's a limitation when you have 2 RAID cards on a
single machine; IIRW, only one RAID card per machine can be monitored via
SNMP&OpenManage.
