Ok, in my case it didn't work :(
I was trying to update a PE2950 (0x01B2) with this BIOS
http://linux.dell.com/repo/firmware/bios-hdrs/system_bios_ven_0x1028_dev_0x01b2_version_2.2.6/bios.hdr
on a Debian Etch 4.0 (updated to current security patches)
I've passed the reboot=bios option to the kernel:
# dmesg |grep -i line
Bootdata ok (command line is root=/dev/sda1 ro reboot=bios )
I've followed the instruction on the wiki:
# dellBiosUpdate -u -f ./bios.hdr
WARNING: packet updates are not fully tested yet for packet modes v0/v2.
We recommend that only monlithic updates be used at this point.
You should only use packet mode on v0/v2 systems if you know what you
are
doing (for example, testing.)

Activate CMOS bit to notify BIOS that update is ready on next boot.
Update staged sucessfully. BIOS update will occur on next reboot.
I did a reboot and... I'm waiting for the datacenter crew to press F1, because
the PE2950 neveer rebooted :(
Michael, any hints?
Jared, did you do the same I did? Any differences?
I was updating from a 1.3.7 BIOS
