How to identify a server?

Hi,


Assuming you have dmidecode (you should have it as you mentioned you  
use RH products) just check its output:

[cut]
Handle 0x0100
	DMI type 1, 25 bytes.
	System Information
		Manufacturer: Dell Computer Corporation
		Product Name: PowerEdge 2850
		Version: Not Specified
		Serial Number: XXXXXXX
[cut]

The "Serial Number" is its service tag.
