megaraid compatible with smartctl?

Hi,

On my PE-2900-III with LSI Logic Megaraid controller and 8 sata disks,
I can't enable SMART status checking on the disks.

I'm trying:

	zenon:~# smartctl -s on /dev/sda
	smartctl version 5.38 [x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu] Copyright (C) 2002-8 Bruce Allen

	unable to fetch IEC (SMART) mode page [unsupported field in scsi command]
	A mandatory SMART command failed: exiting. To continue, add one or more '-T permissive' options.

Is smartctl operation compatible with the megaraid controller?
