Well, I did a little research on Dell's support and documentation area of
its web site, and found "About Your Storage Array" for the md3000i. I
somehow didn't see or get that document with my unit.

Page 2 has a section called "Out-of-Band and In-Band Management", with a
note about the RAID controller network module's netwoork management.
The note says the configuration will default to dhcp, then, if it does
not receive a response in 10 seconds, will default to 192.168.128.x.

That note provided exactly what I needed. I had purchased two additional
Intel gigabit nics just for this device. I configured them to
192.168.128.x and y respectively (I'll bond them later), and, within
minutes, I'm talking to and configuring the box.

I received a direct response from one person saying I first needed a
Windows box for setup. This proves that is not the case.

Hope this helps others.

Next question - anyone know if logical RAID volumes on this device can be
dynamically adjusted (say I configure all drives as one monster RAID 5,
then, later, am asked if the partition can be resized)?

Thanks.

Scott
