DELL SC1425 running Debian - Are stock 2.6 kernels known to work?

I have a SC1425 running debian etch:
1 Intel Xeon 3.0Ghz - 2Gb ram - Single Maxtor SATA disk

I only have installed stock packages, didnt recompile anything and I
never had any problem:

mirror:~# dpkg -l | grep kernel
ii linux-image-2.6-686 2.6.18+6etch3
Linux kernel 2.6 image on PPro/Celeron/PII/P
