Newbie RAID issue on PE2650

I have inherited a PE2650 running RedHat and I have almost zero
knowledge of Linux (and not a whole lot of IT administrative
experience). It has a PERC 3/di RAID controller, and the OS is on one
channel with RAID 1 mirroring. One of the two drives failed, and I have
been unable to figure out how to get the replacement drive to mirror the
existing drive. I initialized the new drive in the RAID Configuration
Utility, but am unsure what to do next. The replacement drive is larger
than the old drive, but if I understand RAID 1 correctly, that should
not be a problem. I would appreciate any help.
