64bit or not ?

I generally believe that once you go over 4GB it's better to go 64 bit.
You can run a >4GB box on 32 bit Linux with the hugemem kernel, but it's
a bit of a kludge.
I run 15 1950's with 16GB of RAM each running VMWare Server on CentOS
4.5 64 bit without a problem. As long as you're not getting too crazy
(and it seems like you're not - just running NFS) then you should be
alright with 64 bit Linux.
