Set all new users to be moderated (see 'Sender filters'), and
periodically run a script that parses the subscribe log and un-sets
the moderation flag (using withlist, I think) for anyone older than an
X hour threshold. That may help with the 'drive-by' posters, without
placing a huge burden on moderators.
I thought I remembered Mailman had a 'waiting period' option, but I
couldn't find it in the admin interface- must be a figment of my
imagination, or it exists only via mmsiteconfig. I'm surprised it
hasn't been implemented before- an option to hold a certain number of
initial posts would be very handy.
