BIOS upgrade problem

I'm running Debian Etch. I know that Red Hat is the only officially
supported distro, but Debian seems to be pretty well supported as well
(albeit unofficially). I have OMSA installed and running fine, was able
to upgrade my PERC firmware without problem, etc. So, if it is a distro
issue as you suggest, I'm rather puzzled as to why only the BIOS update
would fail while everything else works.
