How have you been rebooting? Make sure you do a warm reboot (eg. shutdown -r now), not a power cycle.

Subject: BIOS upgrade problem

I'm trying to upgrade the BIOS on a PowerEdge 2950. Passing -c to the
update package shows this:

# ./PE2950_BIOS_LX_2.1.1.BIN -c
Collecting inventory...
.
Running validation...

BIOS

The version of this Update Package is newer than the currently installed
version.
Software application name: BIOS
Package version: 2.1.1
Installed version: 2.0.1

So, it looks like this is a valid update. However, when I run the update, I
get this:

# ./PE2950_BIOS_LX_2.1.1.BIN

<SNIP>

Continue? Y/N:y
Executing update...

IS IN PROGRESS.

Update completed successfully but can not perform the BIOS verification
after reboot.

Update completed successfully but can not perform the BIOS verification
after reboot.

An 'omreport chassis bios' still shows version 2.0.1, and even after I
reboot it's still running the old version 2.0.1. I've tried applying the
update and rebooting twice now, but it just won't stick.

Can anyone tell me what I'm going wrong, or more importantly what I can do
to fix this?

Thanks.
