Yes, tried that (good suggestion)... No effect.

I've been using this method within Kickstart since RedHat 7 days... something
changed/broke in Anaconda between RHEL4.4 and 4.5 where it appears that Anaconda
is keeping a file descriptor open to /dev/sda (Googling the error message finds some
comments by people suggesting a file descriptor open issue with Anaconda).

The sfdisk is working-- the disk is partitioned correctly and can be verified 
by either a <CTL><ALT><F2> shell or after the fact booting in rescue mode.
