PE2950 Won't Run Quad-Core CPU

Hi,

Just today I swapped the CPU in one of our PE2950 hosts from the dual-
core it came with for a shiny new quad core. Unfortunately, it
doesn't work. Any help in getting this sorted out would be great.

Details:

The host has the II sticker on the front which Dell claims is the
badge of approval for quad-core compatibility.

The original CPU was an Intel Xeon, model 5148 @ 2.33GHz and was
running fine under BIOS v1.02.

The new CPU is an Intel Xeon, model 5355 @ 2.66Ghz. The label on the
Dell anti-static bag it shipped in is GW622.

The Dell quote for the new CPU said:

   Quad Core Xeon 2nd Processor X5355 2x4MB Cache, 2.66GHz 1333MHz
FSB, PE2950, Customer Install (311-6970)

When I powered up the host with the original BIOS it displayed the
correct CPU identification, then after performing the BMC
initialization, it complained in yellow text on a blue background:

    Unsupported CPU Combination.
    System Halted!

I then upgraded the BIOS to 2.0.1 (required reinstalling the original
CPU), and tried again with the same results.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Chance
