Try compat-libstdc++-3 or similar (yum list "compat*" should help)

Best regards,

Brett

Subject: OMSA install on RHEL v5.2 - Dependency Heck

Hello all,

	I am hoping someone can help me with an OMSA install on a
freshly updated RHEL v5.2 Dell 2950.

I have run the "# wget -q -O -
http://linux.dell.com/repo/hardware/bootstrap.cgi | bash " command and
successfully added the repo to the system. I am following the install
example at:

http://www.fundraisinghosting.com/wp/2007/07/20/dell-omsa-52-installatio
n-on-centos-45/

for the rest of the installation.

When I try the "yum install srvadmin-base, I am getting dependency
errors for omacore and omhip:

Error: Missing Dependency: libxml2.so.2 is needed by package
srvadmin-omacore
Error: Missing Dependency: libxml2.so.2 is needed by package
srvadmin-omhip
Error: Missing Dependency: libstdc++.so.5(GLIBCPP_3.2.2) is needed by
package srvadmin-omacore
Error: Missing Dependency: libstdc++.so.5 is needed by package
srvadmin-omacore
Error: Missing Dependency: libstdc++.so.5(GLIBCPP_3.2) is needed by
package srvadmin-omacore

But, I DO have these packages installed:

[root at bcan-01 dell]# yum list libxml2
Loading "dellsysidplugin" plugin
Loading "security" plugin
Loading "rhnplugin" plugin
Installed Packages
libxml2.x86_64                           2.6.26-2.1.2.7
installed

[root at bcan-01 dell]# yum list libstdc++
Loading "dellsysidplugin" plugin
Loading "security" plugin
Loading "rhnplugin" plugin
Installed Packages
libstdc++.x86_64                         4.1.2-42.el5
installed
libstdc++.i386                           4.1.2-42.el5
installed

There does not appear to be an i386 version of the libxml2 RPM installed
because the i386 version has not been updated apparently along with the
x86_64 version (older versions of both came with the RHEL install DVD).
I dare not roll-back the update because yum is one of the packages also
recently updated that requires /usr/lib64/libxml2.so.2.6.26.

As for libstdc++, it is version *.so.6.0.8 which is the default for
RHEL5.2.

What can I do to get past this dependency issue? My versions exceed
those required, so why can't this package understand that?

Regards,

Ken Kirchner
