Hi list,
This is my first message to the list, please let me know if some
information is missing to help solve the problem.
We have a MD3000 storage and we are trying to make it work with a PE1950
server with Debian Etch.
During the boot time the controller - SCSI storage controller: LSI Logic
/ Symbios Logic SAS1068 PCI-X Fusion-MPT SAS (rev 01) - shows the MD3000
virtual disk and also shows the virtual disk capacity - 1.6TB, so I
imagine that the storage is correctly configured.
I already created the host on the storage and give it permission to
access the virtual disk (Host-to-virtual-disk-mapping).
On the host side I can see the controller with
# omreport storage controller

WIth lsiutil I have:
#lsiutil
1. /proc/mpt/ioc0 LSI Logic SAS1068E B3 105 00192f00 0
2. /proc/mpt/ioc1 LSI Logic SAS1068 B0 105 000a3300 0
option 2 chosen, option 42 chosen shows:
/proc/mpt/ioc1 is SCSI host 1
B___T___L Type Operating System Device Name
0 0 0 Disk /dev/sdb [1:0:0:0]
0 0 31 Disk /dev/sdc [1:0:0:31]
And finally I try to cfdisk /dev/sdb and I get:
FATAL ERROR: Cannot read disk drive
And dmesg shows me:
Buffer I/O error on device sdb, logical block 0
Buffer I/O error on device sdb, logical block 1
Buffer I/O error on device sdb, logical block 2
Buffer I/O error on device sdb, logical block 3
end_request: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 0
I'm fighting against this error for a week now and I'm completely out of
ideas. I tried to install LSI drivers from their site, but I couldn't
find any instructions to compile the source and RPM fails to install.
Well, I don't know what else I can do, what should I install and etc, if
somebody can help me I'll be glad.
Thanks a lot,
Fabio Catunda.
