install RHEL4.2 doesn't recognize RAID controller

4.2 doesn't have a PERC 5 driver, but you should be able to pull the
megaraid driver off the Dell support site and install with linux dd with the
image written to a floppy/usb key.  The PERC5 is native to RHEL 3 update 8,
RHEL 4.4, and RHEL 5.  The PERC 6 didn't have a RHEL 3 driver, is native to
RHEL 4.6 (install in 4.5 with linux dd), and RHEL 5.1 (5.0 with linux dd I
believe).
