That is the 20 MB access Lun used for in-band management with the MD3000i controller. Its not a proper scsi LUN so you might want those error messages.

You could also choose not have it exposed to the host (in your case the debian server) by editing the Host to virtual disk mappings using either the MDSM management GUI or CLI.

Thanks,

Subject: Problem with Debian lenny, 2.6.26 and Dell MD3000i

Hi!

I try to setup a server with HD space on a DELL MD3000i.
I use a "old" debian system, updated to Debian Lenny with a recent
2.6.26 kernel and open-iscsi Version 2.0.870~rc3-0.3.

That setup find the MD3000i and I can "connect".
But it shows me two 21MB partitions in dmesg:

[86249.309382] sd 15:0:0:0: [sdf] Attached SCSI disk
[86249.314300] scsi 15:0:0:31: Direct-Access DELL Universal

[86249.326223] sd 15:0:0:31: [sdg] 40960 512-byte hardware sectors (21 MB) [86249.326993] sd 15:0:0:31: [sdg] Write Protect is off [86249.326993] sd 15:0:0:31: [sdg] Mode Sense: 77 00 10 08 [86249.327560] sd 15:0:0:31: [sdg] Write cache: disabled, read cache:
enabled, supports DPO and FUA
[86249.327603] sdg: unknown partition table [86249.484748] sd 15:0:0:31: [sdg] Attached SCSI disk [86249.633201] end_request: I/O error, dev sdg, sector 40 [86249.945726] end_request: I/O error, dev sdf, sector 0 [86250.525251] end_request: I/O error, dev sdf, sector 0

On the MD3000i I created a 2000GB partition and set this exclusive to that debian server.

Any idea?

MfG,
Lars Schimmer
