Tips on getting the PowerEdge SC1435 working with the PowerVault MD1000

Hi, list,

We purchased some SC1435s and some MD1000s which we're deploying into 
two new clusters.  We had several issues with getting both the hardware 
and software working, which we've finally (mostly) overcome.  In case 
anyone else finds themselves with this particular combination of 
hardware on their hands (or, heaven forbid, considering purchasing this 
combination), I wrote up a blog that describes the difficulties and the
