Hi List,

I have a problem with the storage component of omsa on linux RHEL 5.2.
It seems that the storage component of omsa 5.5.0-364 is unable to find
  a Perc 6/i controller in a poweredge 1950.

OS: official Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Tikanga)
(without dell drivers)

Kernel: 2.6.18-92.1.17.el5PAE #1 SMP Wed Oct 22 04:33:46 EDT 2008 i686
i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Hardware: Poweredge 1950

Raid controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic MegaRAID SAS 1078 (rev 04)

I have installed and reinstalled:

srvadmin-syscheck-5.5.0-364
srvadmin-omacore-5.5.0-364
srvadmin-base-5.5.0-364
srvadmin-omilcore-5.5.0-364
srvadmin-deng-5.5.0-364
srvadmin-ipmi-5.5.0-364.rhel5
srvadmin-isvc-5.5.0-364
srvadmin-storage-5.5.0-364
srvadmin-omhip-5.5.0-364
srvadmin-omauth-5.5.0-364.rhel5
srvadmin-hapi-5.5.0-364
srvadmin-cm-5.5.0-364

Services seem to start up without any problems:

$ srvadmin-services.sh start
Starting mptctl:
Waiting for mptctl driver registration to complete:
                                            OK
Starting Systems Management Device Drivers:
Starting dell_rbu: [ OK ]
Starting ipmi driver: Already started [ OK ]
Starting Systems Management Data Engine:
Starting dsm_sa_datamgr32d: [ OK ]
Starting dsm_sa_eventmgr32d: [ OK ]
Starting DSM SA Shared Services: [ OK ]

$ omreport storage controller
No controllers found

I have contacted dell support about this and they told me that because I
am not using RHEL5.2 that has been purchased via dell and I am not using
dell (megaraid) drivers, OMSA doesnt detect the raid controller.

Now with previous versions of RHEL an omsa, this never has been a
problem. Can someone verify that this is indeed my problem or is there
something wrong with srvadmin-storage-5.5.0-364, possibly in combination
with RHEL5?

I'll be happy to provide additional information if this is required.

Best regards,
