You could try to make the update believe that your system is Redhat instead of Centos.

Create this file and see if your identity is can be seen as RedHat 5.2.

[root at lxprodas3xen xen]# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Tikanga)

Subject: Firmware update for a PERC 3/DC controller

I'm trying to update the 199C firmware on a PERC 3/DC controller
installed in a PowerEdge 2650 system running CentOS 5.2 to the 199D
firmware. The 199C firmware is currently installed but is flagged as out
of date by OMSA 5.5. The new 199D version is also is marked URGENT which
gives me the feeling I really need to do this. I've downloaded the
following package from the Dell website:

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R151897&formatcnt=5&libid=0&fileid=202384

When I try to execute this file per the instructions I receive the
following message:
Collecting inventory...

Running validation...

This Update Package is not compatible with your system configuration.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should proceed? Is there a
different package which would work better?

Best regards,
Fred
