As a starting point: We are using the URL
http://support.euro.dell.com/support/topics/topic.aspx/emea/shared/support/my_systems_info/en/details?ServiceTag=%s
to link from our CMDB into the support site of Dell. Replace %s with
your service tag and I am sure you can parse the result in your script.
I think there is a similar URL for the other side of the Atlantic, too.
At least you can query all service tags with this, regardless where the
system was bought.
