PE2850, Linux partion resize, PBR error

A colleague recently tried to resize a RAIDed Linux partition using 
Knoppix 5.1.1 on a PERC controller in a PE2850.  After rebooting, they 
received:

Loading PBR for descriptor 2...done
Bad PBR signature


This is the first time I've heard of a PBR.   What is the best way to 
remedy this?   Knoppix is able to see the data fine - they just need to 
get the system booting again, ideally without a reinstall.
