I just noticed a peculiar thing and would like to know if you have
similar behaviour:

While googling around for BMC info i stumbled upon this message:
http://lists.us.dell.com/pipermail/linux-poweredge/2006-May/025936.html

When browsing around my NIC and BIOS settings I couldn't find any way
to do the suggested mapping (there simply weren't any options for such).

After a few boots I noticed that before GRUB starts a message flashed
quickly on the screen stating: "Baseboard Management Controller
Communication Failure". I could regenerate the line by going to NIC
features with Ctrl-E during boot; after exiting the setup agent PE1900
would state the error and ask for either continue or go to setup (in
case which it goes to *bios*).

I could find only one message in the entire google stating this error:
http://lists.us.dell.com/pipermail/linux-poweredge/2007-April/030505.html
except that I don't get any extra errors like Robert is getting, just
the message. I'm testing out if reflashing the BMC FW will do anything.

I'll report back if i find out any useful information.
