Subject: Can't boot from 1TB array
Hello,
We have a shiny new PowerEdge 840 with an SAS 5IR Controller.
Attached to the controller are 4 1 TB Disks and configured as two mirrored volumes of 1 TB each.
I installed ubuntu 8.04 on it with the following disk layout:
sda1 /boot ~250 MB in size
sda3 extended part
sda5 lvm
After the installation finished I tried to reboot but the maschine just displays
Booting from local disk...
and nothing more apears on the screen, but I can see that some sporadic disk access occurs.
It seems grub is searching for its stages...
After 15 minutes I rebooted into the ubuntu rescue system from cd and verfied that grub
is installed correctly. All seems to be fine.
What could the problem be?
Thanks for your help!
Greetings
Marc
