Does the PE 1850 take a 64-bit Linux OS?

Yes "lm" means "Long Mode".  If you are getting a used /  
remanufactured PowerEdge 1850 from somewhere, or have had it in the  
shop for awhile, I wonder if it is possible to have one with non-EM64T  
Xeon.  If you already have the box, I'd say check the output of /proc/ 
cpuinfo or if it doesn't have Linux installed try booting with x86_64  
"live cd" to see what result you get.  If you are thinking about  
buying, I'd say get the Dell Service Tag and look it up under Warranty  
Info on the Dell Support site, then google the processor part # to see  
if it is EM64T or not.
