Does the PE 1850 take a 64-bit Linux OS?

Yes, the 1850 uses an Intel XEON with the EM64T
extensions so you should be able to install 64bit
(AMD64 / x86_64) OS. Be aware, you can not install an
IA64 OS, as this is for the Itanium arch.
