I think you are.  RHEL 5.2 will have a fix for it I'm told.

yes, but with an earlier kernel.  A less-tested change to the ipmi BT
part of the driver made it in, which broke a number of older (6th
Generation or earlier) PowerEdge servers (which we don't test new
software on any more as a rule - they're 5+ years old).  That said, we
do fix things when we can, and this should be fixed in RHEL 5.2.
