Very cool Torsten! Thank you for replying. Since I'm still somewhat
new to Linux, how do I actually go about applying the patch?

From where do you learned this, imho thats not the truth.
I am still using a poweregde 1600SC with a CERC/ATA100 4Ch Card, works
fine here.
It even runs with the "new" megaraid driver on latest 2.6.24 kernel,
although you can even get it run with the old.
You will still need a little Patch to get it working (either with the
new or old driver, as the patch for the new one is not yet included, but
reported and tracked upstream) as reported by me.

You'll find both patches there which you may need (to get it working
with the old, or new one there).
