"/bin/sh: gcc: command not found" sounds like the C Compiler "gcc" isn't 
installed! 

# yum install gcc               # should fix the problem...

May I install he mpt-status package  on a system SC1430 running Fedora 
Core 6  ?
I tried to make it but I got the messages :
/bin/sh: gcc: command not found
make: *** [mpt-status] Error 127

I developed a bigbrother raid monitoring module based on the mpt-status 
someone
posted about earlier this year:

This util works a lot like the raidctl in Solaris:

I pulled a drive to test the BB module and the resyncing status is 
reported
properly once its replaced
