On that client we are using Zabbix Agent 1.1.3 with Server 1.4.1.
Other clients from V1.0.9 up to 1.4.1 are also monitored.

This is excellent news! I'm also using zabbix and I wanted to do this for
a long time, but only started investigating on installing the Dell tools
on Fedora now.

What version of Zabbix are you using?

Subject: Just wanted to say "hi!"

Hello List,

i just found this list when i searched for some information about
monitoring Hardware via ipmitool and Zabbix (thanks, Bart van Kuik, for
sharing your experiences ("Reading out IPMI sensor values with Zabbix")!
We use many Dell PE850 and 860 servers with Fedora Core 4, 5 and 6 and are
quite pleased with them.

I'm starting to monitor them as follows:

on Client console:
[root at cvs-server ~]# ipmitool sdr list full
Temp             | 40 degrees C      | ok
Planar Temp      | 26 degrees C      | ok
CMOS Battery     | 3.08 Volts        | ok
PROC Fan         | 3075 RPM          | ok
DIMM Fan         | 3075 RPM          | ok
PCI Fan          | 1350 RPM          | ok

My UserParameters in zabbix agentd.conf:
UserParameter=sensors.temp.cpu,sudo ipmitool sdr|grep "^Temp"|awk '{print
$3}'
UserParameter=sensors.temp.planar,sudo ipmitool sdr|grep "Planar Temp"|awk
'{print $4}'
UserParameter=sensors.fan.cpu,sudo ipmitool sdr|grep "PROC Fan"|awk
'{print $4}'
UserParameter=sensors.fan.ram,sudo ipmitool sdr|grep "DIMM Fan"|awk
'{print $4}'
UserParameter=sensors.fan.pci,sudo ipmitool sdr|grep "PCI Fan"|awk '{print
$4}'
UserParameter=ipmitool[*],sudo ipmitool sdr|grep $1|awk '{print $2}'

and on client console again:
zabbix_agentd -t sensors.temp.cpu
zabbix_agentd -t sensors.temp.planar
zabbix_agentd -t sensors.fan.cpu
zabbix_agentd -t sensors.fan.ram
zabbix_agentd -t sensors.fan.pci
e.g.:        zabbix_agentd -t ipmitool['"Planar Temp"','$4']

Best regards,
