Hello list,
I'm a new PowerEdge customer and I'm hoping to learn more about using
IPMI to manage my new SC1435 servers. I've done the basic
configuration and can access my server over the network with ipmtool
running on a different Linux server at this point, but I don't see a
clear way to make BIOS configuration changes via this interface.
I think there are two ways of doing this with out a DRAC setup. Either with raw IPMI commands or by way of the Dell Deployment Toolkit (search for DTK).
I've had limited luck with DTK on my 2950 (seems like most of the bits are read-only and not all the features are available under the 1.3.7 bios for the 2950). Raw ipmi commands are supposedly documented in the Intel specification document but I have not peered at that document.
Cheers,
Ryan
