Broadcomm ethernet problem

The 3com 2948-SFP Plus switch here is reporting that my PE2950 is at
gigabit speed:

Duplex          Auto[Full]

However, mii-tool on the 2950 says that it's at 100 megabit:

I've got the hardware and software repositories configured and I've been
doing yum updates but have not done any update_firmware commands
recently.

OS installed is CentOS-5.
