Disc upgrade - how to reread partition table?

Just for info: really need reboot, maybe due to rootfs is active on
device ... 

Partprobe or hdparm are unable to re-read it :-(

dell2950a:~# hdparm -z /dev/sda
/dev/sda:
 BLKRRPART failed: Device or resource busy

it is possible, but you had to use XFS, thats capable of resizing. 

but maybe im wrong, about this, i googled this and ....

After fdisk session just type command:
# partprobe
/snap
