Dell 4600 / Ubuntu 7.10 / Perc 3/di problem

Can you watch during controller POST and verify you have the latest
firmware?

I installed Ubuntu Server on a Dell 4600 that has a Perc 3/di
controller.  The install went find but when I try to boot for the
first time I get a bunch of the following messages.

... aacraid: Host Adapter abort request (4,1,4,0)
... aacraid: Host Adapte reset request ...
...
...

I checked and in the raid controller bios and write cache was
disabled.  I also tried booting with write cache enabled and it didn't
seem to matter either way.

Any help is greatly apprishiated.
