Dell PowerEdge + Dell EMC SAN with Debian (Etch)

Hi,

I've deleted the messages, but one or more people have reported using
the native Debian multipathing code with their EMC gear. I'm
interested in hearing more details. The Powerpath stack provides
some very nice HA features, and I'm curious about how one of these
features is handled by non-EMC multipathing solutions.

Specifically, given a configuration with a host with two FC
interfaces, each connected to a separate switch, and each of the two
Clariion service processors (SPs) also with one connection to each of
the two switches, it is possible to remove both FC cables from one
SP, yet for the host to retain access to the associated LUNs. From
the SP's POV it still has complete control over its LUNs, but it
detects loss of communication with hosts over its FC links and
trespasses control for its LUNs to the other SP and the host retains
access. Does this work with the Debian multipathing code? The
Qlogic code?

Thanks,

Chance
