Paul,
 
If you have the ipmitools installed you can query the BMC for errors
without installing omsa.  (if not it is easier to install then omsa and
has less server load).
 
ipmitool sel list
 
will get you a list of everything the bmc see's.
 
ipmitool sel list -v
 
Will give you more detail on each event.  If you have a memory error
there is a data field that when decoded will identify the dimm that is
having issues.

I have yet to install osma on my 1950's I know it will monitor disks but
will it monitor and report problems with ram.
