I found other instances of this issue for x9xx series poweredge servers.  I 
have only had this problem with the 2 2970s that were ordered recently.  
After reading the links below, I installed the 2.6.22 kernel from 
backports.org for the amd64 Etch distribution.  It seems to have fixed the 
problem.  I will continue to do IO tests to see if the problem moved or was 
actually fixed.  I wanted to submit this information to the list in case 
someone else has trouble with these servers.
