There are three things to keep an eye on if you want to run Solaris on
the x9xx generation Dell systems:
1. you need the bnx driver from Broadcom
2. if you're using the SAS 5 storage controllers there is a chance
that the mpt driver in Solaris wont support it by default
I believe this has been fixed, but you can use the itmpt driver from
LSI if it doesn't work still.
3. if you're using the PERC 5 controllers you'll need a separate
driver for that too
An official Solaris driver for this hardware was only released a
matter of weeks ago. You should be able to use the LSI megasas driver
on the PERC 5s.
I wrote a driver a year ago to support the PERC 5 controllers, it's
still available at http://www.itee.uq.edu.au/~dlg/mfi/ if you're
interested.
Apart from these three things Solaris works fine on Dell boxes.
