RAID monitoring

John,
Do you have a DRAC (Dell Remote Access Card) installed? I believe the DRAC's have some level of ability to send alerts (anyone know this for sure? I don't use my DRAC's like this - but there is enable paging for users???).

However, as an earlier post implies, sending SNMP traps, or doing something with NagIOS (there is a decent check_dell plugin), are your best bets (along with the build your own periodic parsing script).

Hey - actually - if you just need to get this running - you SHOULD check out the NagIOS plugin for Dell. You could run it as a standalone script through CRON and it does an omreport - parses the output and returns NagIOS levels - OK, UNKNOWN, CRITICAL, WARNING. Might be better than writing your own script. Let me know if you want to pursue this option and I'll dig this stuff out of my configs.

Erik
