Yes on all 3 counts - You can use either the command-line tool or the web
console to make the light blink. You can do the same thing with the hot-swap
drives - at least on the newer servers.
The LED clips onto the back end of the cable tray, although some 1U models don't
have the socket on the motherboard that the cable plugs into.
I haven't tried it through IPMI, but the OMSA cli works with the following command:
# omconfig chassis leds led=identify flash=on timeout=30
That'll make the identify light blink for 30 seconds. Useful for hardware work
- or trying to find where node #16 out of 50 is...
