Hello,

I am writing on this list because I have a problem about monitoring CPU
temperature On PowerEdge x9xx based on Core 2 Duo architecture.

I am using OpenIPMI 2.0.6-1 version downloaded from official Fedora Core
6 repository.

When I want to check the CPU Temperature, ipmitool returns to me
negative temperatures as follows :

Sensor ID : Temp (0x1)
 Entity ID : 3.1 (Processor)
 Sensor Type (Analog) : Temperature
 Sensor Reading : -53 (+/- 1) degrees C
 Status : ok
 Nominal Reading : 50.000
 Normal Minimum : 11.000
 Normal Maximum : 69.000
 Positive Hysteresis : -127.000
 Negative Hysteresis : -127.000
 Minimum sensor range : Unspecified
 Maximum sensor range : Unspecified
 Event Message Control : Per-threshold
 Readable Thresholds :
 Settable Thresholds : unc ucr
Threshold Read Mask : unc ucr
Event Status : Event Messages Disabled
 Assertion Events :
Event Enable : Event Messages Disabled
 Assertions Enabled :

Sensor ID : Temp (0x2)
 Entity ID : 3.2 (Processor)
 Sensor Type (Analog) : Temperature
 Sensor Reading : -47 (+/- 1) degrees C
 Status : ok
 Nominal Reading : 50.000
 Normal Minimum : 11.000
 Normal Maximum : 69.000
 Positive Hysteresis : -127.000
 Negative Hysteresis : -127.000
 Minimum sensor range : Unspecified
 Maximum sensor range : Unspecified
 Event Message Control : Per-threshold
 Readable Thresholds :
 Settable Thresholds : unc ucr
Threshold Read Mask : unc ucr
Event Status : Event Messages Disabled
 Assertion Events :
Event Enable : Event Messages Disabled
 Assertions Enabled :

Does anybody know if there is somewhere a way (patch, OpenIPMI
customized by dell) in order to get the correct value for the CPU
temperature ?

Thank you four your answers

Best Regards,
Olivier BONHOMME
