If you could post the error message, that would help diagnose any problems in the yum repo.
openmanage does have startup scripts that are installed. I think they default to on, but would have to check.

Subject: CentOS 3 install error from repo
I don't know if this is the default or not, but the one CentOS 3 machine we have
in our network did not recognize the Dell repo after using the cgi installer.
I copied the config out of the file put in /etc/yum.repos.d and put it in the
/etc/yum.conf, uncommented the baseurl, and it worked.
Unfortunately, it turns out to be an SC1425, so no dice on OpenManage for this
machine...
On a related note, is there a script installed in /etc/init.d that I can use to
start the OpenManage services on boot? I've got a couple of machines that
OpenManage does work on.
