If you're happy to run OMSA then I would argue this is the simplest
solution, yes.

If you choose not to run OMSA then it gets trickier, especially with a
mix of PERC4 and PERC5 cards :-)

If you'd like I can detail the solution I use, but if you run OMSA
then use omreport.
