Dear All,
You might have remember my last year message - from May - concerning the
bonding and Poweredge servers.
The advice I was given worked till we started to upgrade our configuration.
The configuration is rather complex. There are two servers (LDIR1,
LDIR2) that are running LVS and behind it is one dell blade server 1855
- the blades are called as BL1...4, and two dell 2650-s, called RS1,RS2.
All this complex are connected with to cisco switches plus the inner
switches of the blade server. It is a fully redundant configuration
concerning the ethernet connections.
Upto now we ran RedHat ES4 on all the boxes but LDIR1 and LDIR2 where we
used ES3.
We used the mode parameter "1' on the BL1...4, and RS1, RS2 but mode "6"
was used on LDIR1 and LDIR2. It worked!
We have upgraded LDIR1 to ES4 and it fails to work with either mode "1"
or mode "6". LDIR2 is still ES3 and mode "6".
The Kernel is: 2.6.9.42, the bonding driver is 2.6.3 on LDIR1(ES4), that
fails to properly work.
On LDIR2 - this is ES3 - the bonding driver is 2.6.0, these are ES4 on
BL1..4 the bonding driver is 2.6.1 with kernel version 2.6.9-34.
What can be seen from the switch log is:
08:33 105x C4K_EBM-4-HOSTFLAPPING: Host 00:0F:1F:66:E5:BF in vlan 940 is flapping between port Gi6/17 and port Gi6/37
08:32 896x C4K_EBM-4-HOSTFLAPPING: Host 00:0F:1F:66:E5:BF in vlan 940 is flapping between port Gi6/37 and port Gi6/17
07:00 220x C4K_EBM-4-HOSTFLAPPING: Host 00:0F:1F:66:E5:BF in vlan 941 is flapping between port Gi6/17 and port Gi6/37
07:00 1237x C4K_EBM-4-HOSTFLAPPING: Host 00:0F:1F:66:E5:BF in vlan 941 is flapping between port Gi6/37 and port Gi6/17
12:09 C4K_EBM-4-HOSTFLAPPING: Host 00:13:72:F7:5B:21 in vlan 21 is flapping between port Gi1/1 and port Gi6/37
And it causes a now a big headache for us.
Any advice, is highly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Istvan
