Centos 4.0 on SC440 SATA

I'd just like to point out that:
 1) the OP was trying Centos-4. Current Centos-4 has no problems what so ever 
(out of the box, no modifications, no extra drivers) with the mptsas driver 
which is what pe2950 (sas5i) uses afaict.
 2) vanilla configured sc440 uses plain libata ata_piix driver (though you can 
get the server with sas5i). Although I havn't tried it myself I do expect 
Centos-4 to "just work" with the ata_piix on sc440.
